When the review process (reaffirmation, revision, or withdrawal) for an ANSI standard cannot be completed within the required five-year period, the Committee Chair must submit a request to TIA to submit a BSR11 (Request for Extension of Time) to ANSI for approval. The Request for Extension of Standard Review Process Form notifies TIA that this needs to occur.
The committee can request an extension up to ten years after the document's publication date.
If the document has not completed the ANSI BSR Review by the end of the 10th year, ANSI will cancel the project and notify the TIA Standards Secretariat. If that occurs, the committee will have to start the ANSI approval process from the beginning. The BSR11 must be completed in order to extend the review period.
